The Shrine of Fatima will broadcast the Holy Week and Easter celebrations over the Internet. According to the Ecclesia news agency, which cites the Marian shrine, transmissions will allow pilgrims who cannot travel between municipalities to participate in the Easter programme.
“The Shrine of Fatima will broadcast online, for the first time, all the celebrations of the Easter Triduum, including the Prayer of the Lord’s Agony, Lauds and Vespers, to mitigate the impossibility many pilgrims will experience to travel to Fatima due to the prohibition of travelling between municipalities, in the period between March 26 and April 5,” the statement said, adding that the celebrations can be followed through the official website of the shrine, Youtube channel and also on Facebook, allowing anyone to be “united to Fatima in what is the most important and symbolic time of Christian experience.
The celebrations will also have a Portuguese sign language interpreter and will be transmitted from the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity. On site, the Eucharist will be adapted “to the moment” that the country is going through.
The programme of the celebrations is available on the shrine’s website
